A simple yet effective combination of stitches makes for an interesting geometric effect on this poncho cover up. It can be worn two ways – with the design lines forming a diagonal, triangular shape; or horizontally to form a squared off, modern silhouette.

Australian Superfine Merino 8 ply 65g (2¼ oz) balls
08 Red - 8, 12 balls
• 1 pair each 4.5mm (UK 7, US 7) and 4mm (UK 8, US 6) knitting needles and a 4.5mm circular knitting needle (40cm/16" long) or size needed to give correct tension.
• wool needle for sewing seams.
• piece of cardboard 20cm or 8" wide and crochet hook for fringe.
20 sts and 26 rows to 10cm/4" over stocking stitch, using 4.5mm needles.
NOTE – This poncho has been worked on larger needles and at a looser tension than usually recommended for this yarn.
